【Oracle (烏 – Oracle)】

A friendly monster that foretells good or bad fortune like an oracle. It predicts much more accurately than advanced radar systems. It looks like a raven with two heads. When the right head cries, it’s a good omen. When the left head cries, it’s a bad omen. Poaching is strictly prohibited.

There are two kinds of monsters in the world: manageable monsters and dangerous monsters. “Manageable” here doesn’t mean weak and harmless. It means safe because they don’t attack humans first or ignore them. Of course, the former is extremely rare.

Just like this monster.

“Caw! Caw! Caw!”

People who heard the mighty cries of the giant raven nesting on the hospital roof looked up as if on cue. And they sighed in relief.

‘Thankfully, it’s the right head.’

‘The right head means good fortune! This place will be safe today too.’

‘Phew! My heart almost dropped.’

The 2-star monster, Oracle. It was a grateful monster that foretold the fortune of the area where it nested. The Oracle seemed to welcome someone’s visit.

“So noisy, first thing in the morning…”

Of course, not everyone welcomed the bird’s cries. A young man, bandaged from head to toe, frowned on the all-white hospital bed. It wasn’t because he was in pain.

[A certain God is bored]

[A hasty certain God demands discharge]

[A certain God dozes off]

[A certain God is full of complaints]

‘…Do you guys have no consideration for a patient?’ As soon as he opened his eyes, dozens of messages covered his vision. It was a daily occurrence every morning, but it had intensified since he was hospitalized.

Boring! Boring!

That’s how their messages could be summarized in one line.

“Not a child…”

“Oh my! Mr. Choi Kang-sik. You’re awake. How are you feeling?” The beautiful nurse, changing his IV drip, gave the patient a gentle nod. Her professional smile was remarkably bright. Choi Kang-sik tried to sit up.

“Hmm… Not bad.” Every single finger and toe was safe. He still found it miraculous that he wasn’t disabled after that situation. The nurse took his temperature and said, “Wow! Your recovery is truly amazing. I was so worried when you were airlifted here and unconscious for two days.”

[A certain God smiles slyly]

[A hasty certain God blesses youth]

[A certain God is full of anticipation]

“…I’m fine now.”

“Oh! Right. There was someone who asked to be contacted as soon as Mr. Choi Kang-sik woke up. What should I do?”

“Is it a reporter?”

“I’m not sure about that…”

“Then it’s fine. I don’t have any family who would worry about me. I’ll take care of my well-being through my personal broadcast.” Choi Kang-sik coldly drew the line.

‘It’s probably some shady character even if I meet them.’ Cameramen who follow MS are always exposed to danger. They don’t have protective measures like psychic powers, so their mortality rate is very high. Choi Kang-sik had 5 years of experience as a cameraman. It would be a lie to say he had been accident-free during that time. He had been injured and hospitalized countless times. But he had never received a single hospital visit or phone call.

“Where is my camera?”

“In the second locker over there…”

“Thank you.”

“……”

“Is there anything else you want to say?”

“Well… No. Please rest well.” The nurse hesitated, as if she still had something to say, then left the room.

‘…Did someone bribe her? Well, it’s none of my business.’ Choi Kang-sik immediately looked for his camera. He took out the adapter embedded in the device and connected it to the outlet next to the hospital bed. He pressed the power button firmly.

“Phew! Thankfully, it’s not broken.” He was genuinely happy, as if he had heard his lover’s survival report.

[A certain God kicks romance away]

[A certain God enters meditation]

Choi Kang-sik quickly skimmed through the various articles floating around the internet. A lot had happened in the two days he had been quietly hospitalized. His interest was in only one thing.

‘Ultimately, I missed it.’ He even chuckled at the futility.

Blade had escaped north, to Manchuria. After casually slaughtering over a hundred hunters who had approached hoping for a big score, like MS Han Jo-seop. The 5-star monster, Blade (不-Raid). Its infamy remained. Even a creature that had lost its will to fight and fled was difficult for humanity to handle. Choi Kang-sik’s stand was exceptional.

‘No. I would have lost in the end anyway.’ Although it turned into a mess when MS Han Jo-seop interfered, defeat was a foregone conclusion because of Blade’s astonishing regenerative ability. Misinformation. All the combat data published by various powerful nations, claiming to have driven out Blade, were merely national propaganda.

‘Its recovery was truly insane.’ The shovel that pierced through it and struck its jaw was also amazing.

“…Hmm? Where’s my shovel?” He had forgotten about it until now. It was true that he could earn money through his personal broadcast thanks to the camera. But if it weren’t for the shovel gifted by the gods, he would have been buried in Gimpo Airport. He had forgotten about that invaluable contributor!

[A certain God feels neglected]

‘Yes, yes. I’m sorry, my god. So, where is it?’

[A certain God is sulking]

[A certain God pats their shoulder in comfort]

“My goodness…” The faith he had built up for the shovel instantly evaporated. Choi Kang-sik, for now, resumed his broadcast.

“Hello. This is MS Cameraman. Yes. I really thought I was going to die this time… Oh dear! I didn’t expect a donation right from the start. Thank you. I’ll use it for treatment costs.” The number of zeros was a bit much for treatment costs, though.

This was another personal broadcast that started impulsively without warning. But viewers seemed to know telepathically and quickly flocked in. That wasn’t the only change.

  • English plz. T^T
  • Hi. :-)
  • I’m proud of you! ^3^

‘Huh? Why are there so many foreigners?’ Foreign languages had occasionally appeared in the chat since the second day of the broadcast, but never as explosively as now. It takes two to tango. Foreigners, who had been quietly watching, pushed by the Korean they couldn’t understand, now largely joined the chat, encouraging each other.

  • This MS has already gone global. ;;;
  • Fitting for humanity's strongest hunter. ^0^b
  • Will he be communicating with aliens next year? @@
  • Sob! I have a foreign language phobia... ㅠㅠ

‘Oh! There’s a sharp viewer.’ He was already communicating with gods, after all. He couldn’t imagine what would speak to him next year. He lay back down in bed like a patient and said, “Welcome to my channel! I’m MS Cameraman. Ahem! My limited English only goes so far. You must have many questions. To summarize briefly, this is the result of my obsession with revenge.”

Choi Kang-sik calmly explained his painful past. Blade’s attack, his family’s death… He didn’t try to evoke the viewers’ sympathy with a sad expression like a tragic protagonist. He wasn’t the only one who had lost family to a monster, after all. So, he only conveyed the facts.

“I’m not a special human. I’m just one of countless humans who have sharpened their swords for revenge against Blade. I’m weak. I almost died as soon as the blades doubled, didn’t I?”

  • Damn it! Han Jo-seop came to mind again. ㅠ
  • Han Jo... What are you, really...?
  • Gah! I have a sweet potato stuck in my throat! >0<

Choi Kang-sik argued that even ordinary people could succeed with effort. “Don’t despair just because you’re not a psychic. It might sound like empty words, but there are things you can only see because you’re incapable.”

  • You are the pride of the common people. ^-^
  • MS, you must live a long, long time. :-)
  • My girlfriend tells me to emulate you. What should I do? ㅠㅠ
  • Die. ㅗ
  • You must die.

He kept the gods’ support a complete secret. If he confessed that he received miraculous help, something akin to psychic powers, his popularity would plummet.

[A certain God questions his conscience]

[A certain God criticizes]

‘No, you mean you can do it if you really try, not just try?’ If humanity could defeat monsters simply with vengeance and tenacity, they would have long ago reclaimed dominion over Earth.

Then,

“Haha! You certainly can’t say you’re ordinary.”

“…Hey there.” The doctor interrupted.
