Chapter 7- viewer 4
by lionThud!
The solid concrete shook. Any-One, quickly getting back on its feet by pressing its hands against the ground, roared with a furious expression.
“Kuwarrrr!”
It no longer looked down on the tiny prey. It pounded its chest, suppressing its rage. Then,
“Over here!”
Any-One instinctively turned its gaze in the direction of the hateful human voice. It craned its neck upwards. The human in question was falling like a lightning bolt.
Thump!
Something was impaled.
“Kuwarrr?!”
A red rebar plunged into its large eyeball.
Thump!
And it wasn’t just one. Choi Kang-sik, gripping a rebar the thickness of an adult thumb in each hand, his eyes shining menacingly like a beast’s, stirred the rebars like ladles.
“Kwooaack?!” Any-One shrieked in agony. Choi Kang-sik kicked its head just before it could grab him with both hands and quickly retreated. The bloodied monster reeled.
‘Still far to go.’ Choi Kang-sik judged calmly. He had taken away its sight, but it was hard to conclude he had won. Something crucial was missing. He looked around the dim surroundings. A place commonly found anywhere in South Korea before monsters appeared in the world.
“A church, perhaps…?”
There was no time to observe. The monster’s regenerative power was absurd. Even if its eyeballs were completely ruptured, they would heal cleanly over time. Naturally, he had to finish it before that…
[A certain God pops popcorn]
[A hasty certain God eyes the popcorn]
‘These bastards…!’ While he was desperate, they were as leisurely as watching a movie. It was outrageous, but this wasn’t the time to argue. The scattered remains of humans around them. Places untouched by rescue workers were left in this horrific state. All of it must have been the doing of that Any-One. Choi Kang-sik calmly searched for a usable tool.
“Something, something that could be a weapon… Oh!”
What he found was an ornament placed on a table at the top of the prayer room. An iron cross. The size of a person, it was more crude than holy. It was certainly not made to be a weapon, but its edges were sharp. That was enough.
“Kuwarrrr!”
The monster, whose hearing had also developed, heard his muttering and charged. The targeted young man did not evade.
‘One hit to finish it!’
Choi Kang-sik, standing on the table to match its height, raised the cross, gripped in both hands, above his head.
Boom, Boom!
Any-One leaped low. Choi Kang-sik swung the cross vertically and shouted, “I’ll show you the power of God!”
[A certain God is uncomfortable]
[A certain God likes it anyway]
This wasn’t dialogue for the Gods. It was pure customer service. Why?
‘Oh! My goodness! Gods! I didn’t expect this level of professionalism.’
The cameraman he had roughly hired was filming. He hadn’t come down into the basement himself, but he showed professionalism by tying the camera to a rope and lowering it down the hole. This was the power of performance-based pay! Han Jo-seop’s efforts, despite all his hard work only getting him a pittance in hourly wage, were being cursorily filmed as the cameraman focused on this side. And now was the highlight!
Human and monster collided.
Wham!
The edge of the cross swung by Choi Kang-sik was slammed into the very center of Any-One’s head like an axe. The massive, blind ape couldn’t avoid it.
“Kuwarrr?!”
Choi Kang-sik’s strength, amplified in proportion to the Gods’ viewership, far exceeded the standard of an ordinary human. And he had put his body weight into the downward swing! That single blow was definitely not weak. The acceleration generated by the monster’s charge was a bonus.
Crunch.
It even pierced through the 1-star monster’s hard skull.
“Krrrgh?!”
Any-One, its brain damaged, staggered as if drunk. It hadn’t died from such a fatal injury probably because its ‘core’ was intact. A biological organ that differentiated it from animals. That difference was enormous.
“Choke?!”
A punch, swung with the momentum of its charge, struck the young man’s abdomen. The shock of a broken spine assailed Choi Kang-sik. They had exchanged blows, one for one. Both fatal. But the more critical one was Choi Kang-sik.
‘Damn it! I forgot about the core!’
Humans didn’t have a monster-like insurance policy. A fragile body that could go into shock and die even if one of its limbs, not just the brain or heart, was torn off. Like the gruesome corpses strewn about in this vicinity. However, he didn’t stop.
‘Think, think! Choi Kang-sik!’
He wracked his brain, determined to die if he stopped. Impulsively, he threw a stone from the ground.
Clink, clatter.
“Kuwarr!”
Any-One, searching for the hateful human, reacted to the sound. Still unable to recover its sight, it charged blindly in the direction where the stone fell.
“Ugh!”
Choi Kang-sik forced his aching body to get up to ambush the monster from behind. He didn’t have a grand plan, but…
‘I can’t give up like this…’
Crash!
Any-One, charging valiantly past the stone, slammed its head hard into the wall. The entire underground chapel shook violently.
“Kwoah?”
Any-One shook its head and began searching for Choi Kang-sik’s voice again.
Creeeeak.
An irritating sound. Its head unconsciously tilted upwards. The giant cross ornament hanging in the center of the innermost wall of the prayer room, unable to withstand the previous impact, fell with a thud. Right onto Any-One’s head.
Thump!
“Kuaaaack?!”
The monster, clearly crushed by the heavy cross, let out a desperate scream. Its already precarious skull shattered like a watermelon.
‘…What was that?’
Choi Kang-sik was simply dumbfounded. That massive monster was pathetically wriggling its limbs like a mouse squashed under a shoe.
“Krrr…” But even that movement soon stopped.
“This is…” Choi Kang-sik’s brain went into full overdrive, as if it were overheating. He immediately turned his gaze to the camera.
“Haha! It went exactly as planned. This is the power of God! A double trap! All you viewers saw it, right? A blind monster reacting to a stone and falling into a trap to its death!”
OMG. I got chills. >0<
This MS is for real!!
So cool. Should I try being a hunter too?
Yep, I acknowledge you. ^0^b
Choi Kang-sik scrolled through the viewer comments on the camera dangling from the rope. And he was convinced. He had hit the jackpot. It was an excellent response, showcasing his clever ingenuity.
‘Yeah, that’s right. As long as the result is good!’
[A certain God scoffs]
[A certain God is appalled by the shamelessness]
…Only the Gods would know the truth. Choi Kang-sik used the camera’s rope to ascend to the surface. The cameraman grabbed his hand and welcomed him.
“I’m impressed.” The cameraman whispered, glancing at MS Han Jo-seop, who had collapsed from psychic power overuse. Truly impressed! More than impressed! Not just because of Choi Kang-sik’s performance.
‘How much is this going to be?’
The cameraman struggled to suppress a wide grin. He must have earned much more in those “four minutes” than the meager pay he had received for four years, enduring all sorts of abuse. He wasn’t worried about being cheated out of his money.
You made me open my wallet. @@
You are the pride of the common people!
I'll look forward to your future broadcasts. ^^
Countless citizens who watched the live broadcast were witnesses. 20% of the profits from this broadcast were the cameraman’s share. That joy couldn’t be stopped, not even by MS Han Jo-seop’s scolding.
“Good job filming.”
Stretch, crack.
Choi Kang-sik managed the comments, rotating his stiff back. The cramp that had briefly affected him quickly faded.
‘I thought I was going to die or become disabled like this, but I’m fine?’
Still, he decided to be more careful next time. Next time, that is.
“Ah! My back where Any-One’s punch landed hurts so much! I’ll leave the cleanup to Mr. Han Jo-seop and go to the hospital right away. Viewers? Please take care of my hospital bill too.”
[A certain God is dumbfounded]
[A certain God denounces him as a materialist]
“I don’t accept it!” Han Jo-seop, trembling and barely managing to raise his upper body, shouted. His reddened face resembled a hot teapot.
Choi Kang-sik, who was searching for a nearby hospital, frowned.
“My hospital bill?”
“No, that kind of nonsense doesn’t matter! Parachute, it’s a showdown!”
“…What kind of nonsense is that?”
“Didn’t you learn Korean?”
“No. I’m asking what kind of showdown this suddenly is. You, surely not! You mean humans who should be working together will fight each other? Wow! You’re truly mad with ugly jealousy!”
“I’m not mad!”
“That’s just what you think.”
Look at Han Jo-seop's personality. lol
I knew that bastard was trouble from when he was handsome.
Old man. You shouldn't live like that. >0
MS Han Jo-seop, who was quite popular. It was certain he would soon be crowned human trash!
“No, no! It’s a misunderstanding! I meant I’m inviting you to the MS collaborative hunt scheduled for next week!” Han Jo-seop quickly offered an excuse.
“Hmm?”
“I was going to keep it a secret until the day before, but I can’t help it! Listen up, Parachute! We’ll have the top MS in the country judge who among us is superior…”
“Wait! The top in the country?”
This proud, handsome man didn’t hesitate to praise someone else. That meant it wasn’t an empty boast or an exaggeration. Choi Kang-sik’s managerial instincts screamed. This was…
“Parachute. Even a lowly person like you must have heard the name. Of course, I’m quite close to her, so we often interact…”
“So, who is it?”
“MS Kim So-yoon.”
“Cool!”
Trap or not, he had to do it.
‘One step closer now.’
Choi Kang-sik’s grip tightened around the camera. The 5-star monster, Blade. His family’s enemy. The culprit who ruined his life. From the day he scattered his family’s ashes in the Han River, his fate was sealed. There was no other choice. To find that damn monster and cut off its limbs, just like it did…
[A certain God takes a seat]
[A hasty certain God expects romance]
[A certain God’s heart pounds]
[Viewer: 5]
“…A long way to go.”
