Chapter 147
by lionIt was truly like a pumpkin had rolled in with its vine.
Jun-sang asked a question in a slightly more cautious tone. “Can you… make that here, too?”
Lyches immediately replied, “It’s impossible here. Materials are one problem, and my power is also restricted. Simple things might be possible, but it’s impossible to create an item with an equivalent effect to a magic I can’t even use here.”
“…”
Well, it was only natural since she wasn’t in the Fairy Realm where she could fully utilize her skills, but it was still a pity. Neither Jun-sang nor Lyches herself wanted her to return to the Fairy Realm. He might want to lock her up in the Fairy Realm and extract items from her, but she was a fairy who had been so overworked she had gone on strike for a thousand years.
“Then to what extent is it possible here?”
Lyches tilted her head, then checked a few things briefly before answering. “I don’t think anything too great is possible.”
“Specifically?”
“Simple attack magic, body enhancement, and recovery, I’d say.”
Lyches said it wasn’t a great level, but that was more than enough to be considered a great level here.
“Are there any restrictions on use?”
“Restrictions?”
Lyches tilted her head again and then replied, “I don’t think there were any specific restrictions… If you have a talent for magic, the effect might be better, but I wouldn’t call that a restriction.”
There was no equipment restriction either!
“That’s amazing.”
When Jun-sang nodded and sincerely expressed his admiration, Lyches once again put her hands on her hips and puffed out her chest, acting all high and mighty. “Ahem! Do I look a little different now?”
Jun-sang readily admitted this, too. “Yes. Honestly, I’m a little surprised. You were truly an amazing fairy.”
Lyches was unexpectedly a little embarrassed by Jun-sang’s easy admission. “Ahem! I wonder what’s taking her so long.”
Just as she muttered to herself with a cough, a call came from her chief aide, Cella. “Your Majesty! I’ve found them!”
Lyches warned Cella. “I’m not the Queen anymore. Just call me by my name.”
“What? But…”
At Cella’s hesitant voice, Lyches let out a small sigh and said, “Repeat after me. Lady Lyches.”
“H-how… How dare I.”
“Just do it.”
“…”
As Lyches’s insistence continued, Cella couldn’t refuse any longer and mumbled in a voice that was barely a whisper, “L-Lady Lyches.”
“Good. You did well. Call me that from now on.”
“Yes…”
Cella replied in a dejected voice and then got to the point. “Um… How should I send the earrings?”
“Through the Spirit Gate, of course. I told you that earlier.”
“Oh, right, I forgot.”
Lyches briefly paused her conversation with Cella and looked at Jun-sang. “Can you open the Spirit Gate for a moment?”
“Alright.”
As Jun-sang opened the gate, Lyches spoke to Cella again. “I’ve opened it now, so hurry and bring them.”
“Understood.”
A little while later, a tiny fairy wearing glasses appeared from around Jun-sang’s navel, straining as she carried two small red boxes the size of two overlapping fingers. Seeing her waver and fly as if crushed by the weight of the boxes, Jun-sang and Henes quickly took the boxes from Cella.
“Phew… They’re heavy.”
Cella, who had been disoriented by the sudden physical change, spotted Lyches with her rainbow-colored hair fluttering and quickly went to her and bowed her head. “Your Majesty… no, I mean, Lady Lyches, I am honored to see you.”
“It’s fine, just don’t do that from now on.”
“But…”
Lyches gave Cella a stern look and said, “Stop it, or I won’t call you again.”
“O-okay.”
After warning her once more, Lyches said to Jun-sang, “Give me the chocolate bars.”
“Alright.”
Jun-sang took two small boxes, each containing 25 chocolate bars, out of a large box and handed them to her. When she had the boxes, Lyches used magic to levitate one of them and handed it to Cella.
“Here, you worked hard, so take this and go back.”
“This is…”
To Cella, who was looking at the box with a puzzled expression, Lyches explained with a triumphant look. “It’s called a chocolate bar. It’s incredibly delicious. There are 25 inside, so go and share it with the kids.”
A chocolate bar! Wasn’t that the delicious food that they had been given as a reward when the Spirit Gate was first created? In the Fairy Realm, there were even fairies who were showing withdrawal symptoms because they couldn’t forget that taste.
“Your Majesty… no, Lady Lyches.”
Cella looked at Lyches with a touched expression, her eyes welling up with tears. To think that she would share such a precious food even while being tormented by that bad man… Cella thought that she was indeed the only Queen worthy of the Fairy Realm.
Lyches wiped Cella’s tears with her finger and said, “I’m sorry to have bothered you when you’re busy.”
Cella looked regretful but suppressed her emotions and replied, “Not at all. If there is ever anything you need, please call me again. I will come happily.”
Lyches looked at Cella with a slightly apologetic expression and said again, “I would be grateful for that. Anyway, you must be busy, so you should go back now.”
“Understood.”
Cella bowed to Lyches, then, once again straining under the weight of the box of chocolate bars Lyches had given her, she scurried back to the vicinity of Jun-sang’s navel and disappeared.
“Are you sure about that?” Jun-sang asked.
Lyches tilted her head and replied, “About what?”
“Giving away so much of your share.”
Lyches replied as if it were the most natural thing in the world, “Hey. How can I eat all that by myself?”
“…”
And then she pointed to the boxes that Jun-sang and Henes were holding. “Give me one of those.”
“Alright.”
As Jun-sang handed her a box, Lyches again used magic to open the lid and took out two earrings with small red orbs. She had thought it would be impossible for her to wear them in her fairy form since they were sized for humans, but as they touched Lyches’s hands, they shrunk as if by magic, resizing themselves to fit a fairy.
Lyches put them on her ears and said again, “Give me that one for a moment too. I need to change the settings.”
“Settings?”
“It’s set so that no one other than the owner can wear them without permission.”
“What happens if someone who isn’t the owner wears it?”
Lyches took the box with the other earrings from Henes, opened it, and said, “Wearing it itself requires magic, and even if you force it on, you can’t use the effects. To anyone other than the owner, it’s just a pretty earring.”
“I see.”
Lyches seemed to manipulate something while touching the earrings, then moved away from the box and said to Henes, “Here, now take it and put it on your ear.”
“Thank you.”
Henes politely bowed to Lyches and picked up the earrings from the box. Henes stared at the small, fingernail-sized earrings with no decoration other than the red jewels for a moment. Unlike ordinary earrings, there was no needle or clasp for wearing them. She tilted her head, then remembered what Lyches had said earlier.
She carefully brought it to her ear, and the earring stuck to her ear as if by magic. Henes, amazed, put on the other one as well and showed them to Jun-sang. “How do I look?”
She had only put on a small earring, but somehow she felt much more mature.
“You look pretty.”
“Tch.”
Henes pouted at Jun-sang’s somewhat half-hearted compliment and then expressed her gratitude to Lyches again. “Thank you so much for the beautiful earrings.”
“It’s fine. It’s not like it was free anyway.”
A more accurate expression would be that it was so cheap it was almost free, but Lyches herself seemed quite satisfied.
“How do you use the invisibility ability?”
At Jun-sang’s question, Lyches immediately replied, “It’s simple. You just touch the earring with your hand and say ‘disappear’ in your mind.”
“Does the language matter?”
“Probably not.”
Jun-sang looked at Henes and said, “Try it once.”
“Yes.”
Henes raised a hand, touched the earring on her ear, and whispered in her mind, ‘Disappear!’ Instantly, Henes’s figure vanished from Jun-sang and Lyches’s sight. Jun-sang immediately used his Super Senses to check. He couldn’t see her with his eyes, but he could immediately sense that Henes was there.
“That’s amazing.”
Jun-sang was slightly surprised by the invisibility function, which didn’t seem to have any side effects. When he reached out and touched Henes’s shoulder, the invisibility broke, and she reappeared.
Lyches added an explanation at the sight. “Oh, you have to be careful because the effect wears off if you make physical contact with someone like that. Except for the user recognition function and the way you wear it, the precautions are the same as with general invisibility magic. Of course, if you have enough magical ability to use invisibility magic yourself, you can offset this problem.”
Jun-sang quietly reached out and brought his hand to the earring Henes was wearing.
“…”
Henes lowered her head, seemingly embarrassed by Jun-sang’s touch near her ear, but Jun-sang’s purpose was to check the item information of the earring.

“This is…”
Jun-sang couldn’t hide his surprised expression. The reason was that there really was no level restriction on the earrings Lyches had made. To be able to wear such a ridiculous item regardless of level… He had heard that there were no restrictions earlier, but he had thought there would be some kind of penalty. He never imagined he could wear such a ridiculous item without any restrictions at all.
“Are there… any others?”
Jun-sang asked hopefully, but Lyches shook her head. “There are only two.”
“…”
Jun-sang clicked his tongue in disappointment. “Anything else?”
“Anything else, what?”
“Is this the only magical item you’ve made?”
Lyches tilted her head and replied, “I don’t know. It was a long time ago. I might find something if I look, but I don’t know.”
“…”
Was there really nothing, or did she not want to show him any more? He also thought it might be because she was too lazy to look, but if Lyches was going to act like this, it would be difficult to pry further. Although it was a little disappointing, they weren’t going to part ways anytime soon, so Jun-sang thought he could just sweet-talk her slowly and get her to open up her treasure chest. The important thing was that he had confirmed Lyches’s ability to create items with no level restrictions.
